Beaudesert is rich in history, art, and culture

1 September 2022

The Scenic Rim has a long and rich history in arts and culture, dating back to its pioneers who were inspired by the region’s natural beauty, which created the foundations for a thriving arts and culture movement across the region. In Beaudesert and its surrounding areas, you can explore Art Galleries, Museums, Movies, Artist Trails and a vast array of Workshops and Courses. Living at Spring Creek means you have access to these events, workshops, exhibitions and more, right on your doorstep.

Art Exhibitions

The Centre hosts companies and artists from across the region, the country and the world. The state-of-the-art facilities showcase a year-long program of significant community and touring exhibitions. Gallery hours during exhibition periods are: Tues-Fri 10am-4pm, Sat 10am-2pm with free admission.

Public Programs and Workshops

Scenic Rim Writers hold monthly meetings at The Centre, with events and workshops to build skills, support each other and develop networks. One of the more recent publications by the Scenic Rim Writers Group is Mystery, Murder & Mayhem (2021), which is available for purchase along with their other books. Other programs and workshops held at The Centre include dance sessions by Queensland Ballet, drawing workshops, cooking workshops, art workshops and more!

Live Performances

The Scenic Rim attracts popular international and national performers to the Beaudesert Cultural Centre. Musical performers and theatrical organisations and individuals present regular performances and events.

Historical Museum

The Beaudesert Historical Museum is one of the largest country town museums in Queensland, with over 10,000 artefacts covering the Scenic Rim region’s industrial and lifestyle heritage. From the humble Mother Potts clothes iron, to the large red Dennis fire engine, there is something for everyone.

Art and Craft Groups

There is a wide range of art and craft groups located in the Scenic Rim, with Beaudesert home to ten different groups. There are a wide variety of categories including dance, bush poetry, cake decorating, quilting, pottery, radio, theatre, writing, choir and more!

School Holiday Activities

The Scenic Rim Regional Council’s arts and culture team offer free and low-cost school holiday activities, across the region. The program features movies, dance classes, cooking classes, art classes and library activities. A Council initiative embraced by children and parents alike.
